Police Involved Shooting on I-80 West in Hercules, past the Carquinez Bridge

6:40 AM - Thursday - 1/22/26

Several 911 calls came in about a gold color Honda driving reckless causing several accidents, without pulling over along I-80 West in Vallejo - This lead to multiple hit & runs without any insurance exchange

The Honda eventually came to rest in the number one lane in Hercules for unknown reasons - Driver then was out of the vehicle walking into traffic & hitting passing motorist with a tire iron

A Richmond Detective came up on this scene on his way to work - He then activated his emergency lights in his unmarked police vehicle to attempt to render aid to this individual

Per witnesses this male continued hitting passing vehicles and then turned to the Richmond un-marked SUV - The detective attempted to deescalate this situation several times while maintaining his distance with this subject swing the tire iron

After several minutes of this the subject started to charge the detective pushing him into traffic, moments later as a last resort the detective fired his service weapon neutralizing the threat

Aid was given immediately by the detective and the male subject was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries
